Ever since we first encountered authentic Beni Ouarain rugs in Morocco, we knew we wanted to sell them at Haarlem House. They embody what our business is all about: beautifully handcrafted products, each with their own unique personality, each classic and timeless in their design.
From a country known worldwide for its fine rugs, Beni Ouarains are considered the most prestigious rugs of Morocco. Commercially-made look-alikes can be found in every major big box home design store... but these are the real deal. Our Beni Ouarain rugs are hand-woven from the finest wool by Berber women of the Beni Ouarain villages in the North-Eastern Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Our buyer journeys to these villages - accessible only by donkey - every few months to bring back the best rugs they can find. These rugs are truly "heirloom-quality."
Classic "Benis" retain the soft ivory color of their natural wool, and are accented by traditional dark diamond-patterned stripes. Knotted with nothing but wool, the rugs are washed and dried in the sun, leaving them incredibly soft and luxurious.
