Our Hadithi baskets are handwoven by talented women weavers in several Taita villages of Southeastern Kenya. The weavers obtain fiber from the leaves of the sisal plant, which is rolled into twine, dyed and woven into baskets of all patterns and sizes. Our colorful baskets are dyed with permanent commercial textile dyes. Each basket is a one-of-a-kind creation and an expression of the woman who crafted it.

We think Hadithi baskets make the best plant pots and look great in multiple groupings, but they can also be used to hold kitchen utensils, magazines, children's toys... just about anything. While sisal is an incredibly strong fiber, they’re not immune to water - so make sure to use a tray in the bottom of your pot to keep them dry. Click the link below for detailed care instructions.

Hadithi baskets are sourced through the non-profit organization Solid Crafts, which provides sustainable employment for underprivileged women in India, Peru and Kenya. We're thrilled to be partnering with Solid Crafts and look forward to offering more of their unique products over the coming months.
